Envisioning Excellence for Community College Leadership

Announcement of Belk Endowment giving 10.8 million to NC State

Envisioning Excellence for Community College Leadership is a bold initiative at NC State University’s College of Education. Partnered with the Aspen Institute and funded by the John M. Belk Endowment, this initiative is revitalizing NC State’s historic relationship with North Carolina’s community colleges. An Advisory Board provides vital insights into how to solve the leadership crisis facing the State’s community colleges.

A land-grant university, NC State has long served a vital supporting role to community colleges for decades. Its graduate programs have produced many community college presidents; thirteen alumni are currently community college presidents in North Carolina. Each year NC State hosts the Dallas Herring Lecture.

Envisioning Excellence is working on three key priorities: redesigning its Ed.D. in Community College Leadership; expanding professional development; and conducting action research.
